Step by step

The Halal Certification Process

  1. Application and Planning

The process begins with a formal application submitted to HCS (EU). During this phase, we conduct an initial review of your products, production facilities, and intended market scope. A tailored certification plan is developed, outlining timelines, documentation requirements, and applicable standards.

  2. Documentation Submission and Review

You will be required to submit comprehensive documentation for desk review. This includes ingredient lists and product formulas, halal certificates for raw materials (where available), production flow charts, hygiene and sanitation procedures, quality manuals, and records of quality control. Our team reviews all documentation to identify any gaps or concerns before proceeding to the on-site audit.

  3. On-Site Audit

A combined on-site audit is conducted at your production facility. Our auditors examine operations firsthand, following a structured checklist covering halal control points and relevant technical standards. The audit includes facility inspection, verification of raw materials against the approved halal list, compliance checks on segregation and cleaning procedures, and interviews with key personnel.

  4. Non-Conformity Resolution

Any non-conformances identified during the audit are documented and communicated. You are required to implement corrective actions within an agreed timeframe. Evidence of corrections is reviewed before proceeding.

  5. Certification Decision

Upon successful closure of all non-conformities, a final review is conducted. The certification committee evaluates the complete audit package and, upon approval, issues the halal certificate.
